Play with Food è, in Italia, il primo e unico festival di teatro e arti performative interamente dedicato al cibo, organizzato a Torino da Associazione Cuochilab, con la direzione artistica di Davide Barbato.
Dal 2010 al 2022 sono state realizzate 11 edizioni, che hanno visto la partecipazione, tra gli altri, di Lella Costa, Frosini/Timpano, Teatro delle Ariette, I Sacchi di Sabbia, Cuocolo/Bosetti, Abbiati/Capuano, Carlo Massari, Daniele Ninarello, Maria Pilar Pérez Aspa, Claudio Morici, Stivalaccio Teatro, Gabriele Vacis, Michele Sinisi, Ninni Bruschetta, Bartolini/Baronio, Sara Bertelà, Sotterraneo.
Play with Food è sostenuto da Regione Piemonte, Città di Torino, Torino Arti Performative, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT, Camera di commercio di Torino e supportato da una rete di collaborazioni con realtà culturali e imprenditoriali attive sul territorio cittadino e regionale.
È aperta una call rivolta ad artiste e artisti, compagnie o collettivi di lavoro per la selezione di uno o più progetti performativi (teatro, danza, performance, musica, circo etc.) da inserire nel programma della dodicesima edizione, che si terrà a Torino, in sedi varie, a ottobre 2023.
La specificità di questa edizione è la richiesta di integrare alla performance un momento conviviale.
Si invita a leggere attentamente il presente bando, e a seguire scrupolosamente le indicazioni per partecipare, inviando tutte le informazioni richieste.

1. TEMA DEL FESTIVAL
Play with Food – La scena del cibo è un progetto nato con il fine di indagare il tema del cibo attraverso la creazione performativa.
Il termine inglese play significa tanto recitare, quanto suonare e giocare: nella declinazione da noi usata, suggerisce pertanto la ricerca di un approccio libero, originale e creativo al tema proposto.
Food definisce nei nostri intenti non solo il cibo, ma anche concetti come nutrimento, condivisione, convivialità, ossessione, identità, politica, ambiente, piacere, memoria.
Nello specifico di questa call, è interesse della direzione artistica chiedere agli artisti di utilizzare il cibo in scena e prevederne la condivisione con gli spettatori, per indagare le potenzialità del convivio come strumento drammaturgico per un diverso coinvolgimento del pubblico.
Temi, generi e formati performativi vengono lasciati alla totale libertà espressiva dei proponenti.
2. CHI PUÒ PARTECIPARE
La call è aperta a tutti i soggetti che agiscono professionalmente nell’ambito delle arti performative. Verranno valutati progetti di teatro, danza, performance, musica, circo etc.
Possono partecipare artisti singoli o compagnie.
Ogni soggetto proponente può inviare più proposte.
La partecipazione è riservata alle compagnie professioniste, in grado di emettere fattura elettronica e produrre agibilità ex-Enpals per il personale artistico e tecnico impegnato nello spettacolo.
3. CARATTERISTICHE DEI PROGETTI
I progetti presentati devono essere coerenti con le linee tematiche del festival espresse al punto 1 della presente call.
I progetti dovranno:
- valorizzare la vicinanza con gli spettatori;
- prevedere uno o più momenti conviviali che coinvolgano gli spettatori e che siano artisticamente integrati e necessari alla performance;
- avere una durata non inferiore ai 60 minuti;
Elementi preferenziali ai fini della valutazione saranno l’agilità e la semplicità della scheda tecnica e delle esigenze di allestimento.
4. CONDIZIONI ECONOMICHE E ORGANIZZATIVE
Le condizioni economiche verranno concordate con le singole compagnie.
Il festival avrà cura di scegliere i luoghi più adatti (non necessariamente spazi tradizionalmente teatrali) per il miglior svolgimento della performance.
Gli spazi verranno utilizzati con il loro normale allestimento e le dotazioni tecniche presenti. Eventuali necessità ulteriori verranno discusse e definite con la compagnia.
Le compagnie dovranno essere autonome dal punto di vista tecnico: il festival metterà a disposizione, dove necessario, un tecnico di assistenza solo per il montaggio e lo smontaggio.
5. MATERIALI RICHIESTI
I partecipanti al bando devono obbligatoriamente produrre i seguenti materiali:
5.1 Per candidare progetti già esistenti: indicare link al video completo del progetto realizzato. In assenza del video completo, è possibile linkare un video parziale del progetto, e/o un video di presentazione come indicato al punto 5.2.
5.2 Per candidare progetti non ancora realizzati: è richiesto un video (max 3 minuti) che suggerisca con chiarezza le linee estetiche e tematiche del progetto: ad esempio una breve dimostrazione di azione performativa, oppure un brainstorming etc.
5.3 Scheda artistica e scheda tecnica, specificando il modo in cui si prevede si svolga il momento conviviale.
5.4 Curriculum dell’artista, della compagnia o del collettivo, con evidenza di eventuali premi e riconoscimenti, e l’eventuale partecipazione a festival e rassegne.
6. MODALITÀ DI PARTECIPAZIONE
La partecipazione è gratuita, attraverso la compilazione del seguente form:

Il sistema invierà una conferma automatica di ricezione. Non saranno inviate ulteriori comunicazioni. Sarà cura della Direzione contattare il soggetto proponente in caso di necessità. I partecipanti al bando autorizzano, ai sensi della Legge 196/2003 e del GDPR Regolamento Europeo n. 2016/679, il trattamento anche informatico dei dati personali e l’utilizzo delle informazioni inviate per tutti gli usi connessi al bando.
7. SELEZIONE
Gli esiti verranno comunicati esclusivamente ai soggetti selezionati.
La selezione dei progetti è a insindacabile giudizio della direzione artistica, che si riserva il diritto di non selezionare alcun progetto tra quelli pervenuti.

Play with Food is the first theater and performing arts festival entirely dedicated to food and conviviality in Italy. It is organized by the Cuochilab Association under the artistic direction of Davide Barbato.
The festival has an established tradition with 11 editions held from 2010 to 2022.
Over the years it has featured, among others, by Lella Costa, Frosini/Timpano, Teatro delle Ariette, I Sacchi di Sabbia, Cuocolo/Bosetti, Abbiati/Capuano, Carlo Massari, Daniele Ninarello, Maria Pilar Pérez Aspa, Claudio Morici, Stivalaccio Teatro, Gabriele Vacis, Michele Sinisi, Ninni Bruschetta, Bartolini/Baronio, Sara Bertelà, Sotterraneo.
Play with Food is supported by the Piedmont Region, City of Turin, Turin Performing Arts, Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, CRT Foundation, Turin Chamber of Commerce. It is also supported by a network of collaborations with cultural and business realities active in the city of Turin and its region.
Play with Food opens a call for artists, companies or working collectives to select one or more performance projects (theater, dance, performance, music, circus, etc.) to be included in the program of the twelfth edition, which will be held in Turin, in various venues, in October 2023.
In this edition, it is requested that a moment of conviviality be integrated with the performance.
Please read this announcement carefully and follow all instructions to participate.
Projects that do not submit the required documentation properly will be automatically excluded from selection.

1. THEME
Play with Food – The Food Scene is a project created with the aim of investigating the themes of food and conviviality through performative creation.
The very name of the festival suggests the search for a free, original and creative approach to the theme which has been proposed.
In our vision, the term Food goes beyond its semantic meaning to embrace concepts such as nutrition, sharing, sociability, obsession, identity, politics, environment, pleasure, and memory.
In the specifics of this call, it is in the interest of the artistic direction to ask artists to use food on stage and provide for its sharing with the audience, to investigate the potential of convivium as a dramaturgical tool for different audience engagement.
Themes, genres and performance formats are left to the total expressive freedom of the proponents.
2. WHO CAN APPLY
The call is open to all artists working professionally in the performing arts. Individual artists, companies and collectives may participate.
Each individual may send multiple proposals.
The management would like to point out that the participation is reserved for professionals, in compliance with tax and social security obligations.
3. CHARACTERISTICS OF PROJECTS.
Projects submitted must be consistent with the thematic lines of the festival expressed in point 1 of this announcement.
Projects must:
- enhance interaction with the audience;
- include one or more convivial moments that involve the spectators and are artistically integrated and necessary to the performance;
- have a duration of no less than 60 minutes,
Preferential elements for evaluation will be the feasibility and simplicity of the technical rider and of the assembly / disassembly requirement.
4. ECONOMIC AND ORGANIZATIONAL CONDITIONS.
Economic conditions will be agreed with individual companies.
The festival will choose the most suitable venues (not necessarily traditional theater spaces) for the performances.
The spaces will be used with their normal layout and present technical equipment. Any additional needs will be discussed and defined with the company.
Companies should be technically independent: the festival will provide, where necessary, a service technician only for assembly and disassembly.
5. MATERIALS REQUIRED
The participants must provide the following materials:
5.1 Existing projects: indicate links to the complete video of the project. In the absence of the complete video, it is possible to link a partial video of the project, and/or a presentation video as indicated in point 5.2
5.2 Projects not yet realized: a video (max 3 minutes) is required that clearly suggests the aesthetic and thematic lines of the project (a small example of performative action, chat, brainstorming…).
5.3 Description of the project and technical rider, specifying the way in which the convivial moment is expected to take place.
5.4 CV of the artist, the company or the collective, with evidence of any prizes and awards, and any participation in festivals and exhibitions.
6. RULES OF PARTICIPATION
Applying to the call is free, participate by filling out the following form:

The system will send an automatic confirmation of receipt. No further communication will be sent. The management will contact the proposing subject in case of need. The participants in the announcement allow, in accordance with Law 196/2003 and GDPR European Regulation n. 2016/679, the processing of personal data and the use of information sent for all uses related to the announcement.
7. SELECTION
The results will be communicated exclusively to the selected subjects.
The selection of projects is at the sole discretion of the artistic director, who reserves the right not to select any project among those received.
